Sweet Apple French Toast

Sure to become a family favorite. If assembled the night before, it can also be quick and painless to prepare. Sure to put a smile on everyone’s face on those hectic mornings. Serve with raisins or hot maple syrup. 

1 cup Hollandia Dairy Milk
1 tsp. Hollandia Dairy Butter
1 tsp. rum flavoring
¼ cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
¼ tsp. nutmeg
2 eggs 
½ cup applesauce
8 to 10 slices French bread (1/2” thick)
¼ cup sugar
Pinch of salt

Preheat oven to 375° degrees. Grease nonstick baking sheet with Hollandia Dairy Butter. Press brown sugar through a strainer to remove lumps, and sprinkle 2 tablespoons evenly over baking sheet. Whisk Hollandia Dairy Milk, eggs, applesauce, rum flavoring, vanilla, nutmeg, and salt in shallow bowl. Dip bread in mixture and lay out on baking sheet.

Bake for about a total of 20 minutes, turning once, until the toast is lightly browned and sugar is caramelized. Serve on warm plates with syrup and fruit garnish. (Serves 4-5)
